Positive Behavioural Support Practitioner and Specialist Services Trainer

 

This is a regional type role and will be based in East Anglia, working alongside our existing support services as well as new provisions as they come on line.

As PBS practitioner you will Work alongside our MDT and will work closely with the people that we support across our specialist services to develop and implement personalised support plans that meet peoples needs and help to promote independence and life skills.

In addition you will deliver mandatory, specialist and behavioural support training for Kingsley Specialist Services across East Anglia and Cambridgeshire.  Ideally you should have experience and knowledge in the following subjects: 

• Positive Behaviour Support

• Managing Challenging behaviour 

• Learning Disability Awareness and Advanced

• Autism Awareness and Advanced

• Mental Health Awareness

• Mental capacity

• Other specialist subjects as agreed

•  Liaising with local clinical and social care professionals as well as our in house MDT to ensure interventions remain appropriate and sustainable and that implementation is in line with peoples expectations. Ensuring that records are maintained appropriately, monitored and analysed with all required actions taken as appropriate. The effectiveness of interventions will be reviewed and recorded as appropriate. 

•  Provision of high-quality training and development to a range of employees who support people with Learning and Physical Disabilities and associated conditions in a safe and homely environment.

• Establishing and maintaining systems in order to promote and engage staff to continually develop and perform to the best of their ability.

• To work within legislation, local and company policies and procedures and CQC guidelines,

• Adapt own communication styles to meet the needs of individuals, lead by example and demonstrate a variety of training techniques.

• To participate as a key member of the team in working to improve and develop our work force. Take an active part in mentoring and developing individual members of staff and strengthening a team around the people we support.

Criteria / Person Specification

Essential skills required

• Relevant Health and Social Care qualification
• Good general level of education including English and Maths to GCSE standard
• Currently hold a formal qualification in: Positive Behaviour Support e.g.. BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis, PBS Graduate Diploma, PBS BTEC Level 5 (advanced professional Diploma) 
• Level 3 Award in Education & Training, PTLLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent
• Hold a UK driving licence and able and willing to travel and work across multiple sites
• You will be required to have had or be willing to have the COVID19 vaccination for this position.

 

Experience:

• training: 2 years
• Direct support experience with people with learning disabilities, and complex needs
• In conducting assessment and developing, implementing and evaluating interventions for individuals presenting with Challenging Behaviours
• Development and delivery of training including Positive Behaviour Support training
• Working as part of MDT team
• Track record of reducing the use of restrictive practices
